Terms, cancellations & refunds
Version 2026-09-18. These terms apply when you book any service on this website.
Booking and confirmation
A booking is a request until we confirm a time with you by text or phone. If we can’t serve your address or time, we’ll tell you and refund anything you paid in full.
Prices
- Video doorbell installation: $125 labor (regularly $250). The doorbell device is separate, at store price, unless you supply your own.
- Trash bin cleaning: $40 for one bin, $60 for two bins, one time.
- Quarterly bin plan: $114 every 3 months for two bins cleaned once a month. Each additional bin is $15 per quarter.
- Curb Your Crib address painting: $125 per spot, with a 3-year warranty. Warranty repaints are $15 per visit.
- Smart home setup, stays and property management are quoted before any work or charge.
Paying by card
Card payments are processed by Square. By paying by card you authorize us to charge the amount shown at checkout. Your statement will show a descriptor such as “SQ *SMART HOMES.” Your bank may ask you to confirm the purchase (3-D Secure). We keep a record of your agreement to these terms, the time, and the amount authorized.
If you don’t recognize a charge from us, please contact us first at (313) 674-6664 or SmartHomesForAmerica@icloud.com. We’ll look into it and fix it quickly, usually faster than a bank dispute.
Quarterly plan: automatic renewal
If you start the quarterly bin plan by card, you authorize us to charge the plan price to the same card every 3 months, starting 3 months after sign-up, until you cancel. Square emails a receipt each time. To cancel, text or email us any time before your next billing date; no further charges will be made. The current paid quarter is not refunded, but we’ll finish the cleanings you’ve paid for.
Cancellations and rescheduling
Reschedule or cancel for free with at least 24 hours’ notice and we refund card payments in full. With less notice, or if we arrive and can’t access the work area, we may keep up to $25 to cover the trip.
Refunds and our guarantee
If something isn’t right with work we did, tell us within 7 days and we’ll come back and make it right at no charge. If we can’t, we’ll refund what you paid for that service. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
Curb Your Crib warranty
For 3 years from the paint date, if your numbers fade, chip or wear, we repaint them for $15 per visit. The warranty doesn’t cover a curb or step that has been replaced, resurfaced or painted over by someone else.
Referral discounts
Give us the name and phone number of someone who isn’t already a customer, and not your own number, and you get 5% off the service you’re booking. If that person books and completes a service, we raise your discount to 10% and send you the difference, back to your card or as a credit on your next service. One referral discount per booking.
Short-term stays
Rates, house rules, deposits and cancellation terms for stays are confirmed in writing before you book.
